Mobilephonechecker.co.uk polled 1,486 UK adults that had all managed to break, scratch or dent their iPhone handset. Much of the blame seems to fall on the iPhone’s accident-prone screen for the smartphones’ high break rate. While the average life-span of the perfectly pristine iPhone came out at 10.4 weeks, the pollers found that newer models of the iPhone were much easier to break than the older models: it was reported that owners of the iPhone 3/3GS had took much longer to break their smartphones (an average of 14.9 weeks) than those who had damaged their iPhone 4/4S/5 (5.9 weeks). They then asked the iPhone users how they managed to break their phones. The results were:
