iPhone 5 Screen Price Increase

Unfortunately we have some bad news for you iPhone 5/5S/5C owners!

This summer has seen a unique trend of increased wholesale costs of the parts of iPhone 5, 5S and 5C – while this began in late Spring, it has continued to increase throughout the Summer, causing repair companies to raise the prices for their services to iPhone 5 models.

The reason for this price increase is because of an industry-wide manufacturing issue due to a shortage of raw materials. Since there has been a shortage of these components, their cost has gone up. There has been much speculation as to the cause of this decrease in supply, some rumours involve factories in China ceasing to produce the screens, while others have stated that Chinese customs are seizing recycled screens coming back from the West. Although the validity of these specific rumours cannot be proven, the issue seems to originate in China, and there does not seem to be any reprieve from the situation in the nearby future.

This increase in demand and decrease in supply has meant that wholesale inventory has become unstable, and retail prices will need to be raised to reflect the wholesale cost and the increased inventory needed to maintain service.

Because of this, iFixed’s prices on iPhone 5, 5S and 5C repairs have increased slightly – although not as much as our competitors’. Our company is dedicated to ensuring that we provide the best price and service for our customers, and although we cannot control external factors such as these, we will continue to provide high quality parts at the best prices possible.
