We’ve all been there. You plug your iPad in, desperate for some charge, and nothing happens.

First of all, just double check you aren’t being a wally. Is the plug definitely switched on? And is the charger correctly inserted into your iPad port? If you definitely aren’t having a ‘moment’ and everything is as it should be, then we can continue, and you can stop panicking. Here are some tips for you to follow:
1. Device or Charger? The first step for a diagnosis is to establish where the problem is coming from. Try using different USB cables and adapters for your iPad charge. If doing this works, then the good news for you is that the fault is just in your power source and not in your iPad itself. So go on down and get yourself a new charger. – If this doesn’t work, then your iPad has a problem, but it could be sorted out..
2. Restart your iPad – try restarting your device and see if that helps. It sounds silly, but it can often sort itself out during a restart.
3. Restore your Backup from iTunes/iCloud – although it is rare, there can sometimes be a software glitch in your iPad update released by Apple that can affect your device’s charging abilities. Just to make sure this is not the case, try restoring a backup you have made.
4. Perform a Hard Reset – if the above did not help, then you need to perform a hard reset. This is the ultimate solution for any software related problem. But BEWARE, by performing a hard reset, you will be deleting all your personal data, apps, etc from your device – so ensure that it is all backed up. To perform a hard reset, go to: Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings, alternatively, hold onto the power button and home button simultaneously for about 10 seconds while the device is turned off.
